About Amber


Amber B. Donaldson graduated from the American Library Association accredited School of Library and Information Management at
Emporia State University with her Master of Library Science
in August of 2010.

Originally from the Cincinnati, Ohio area, where she attended
Miami University, she has been in the Kansas City metro
since 2008.

 
Amber's professional interests encompass many areas of librarianship, including public, academic, corporate, and other special libraries. One area she would particularly like to pursue is marketing, with an emphasis on utilizing grassroots methodologies. This interest is demonstrated in multiple assignments in the Documents portion of this site. Other interests include reference, outreach, instruction, adult services, interlibrary loan, and management. She is currently employed by Mid-Continent Public Library's Blue Ridge Branch. This position involves working in an urban, publicly funded institution within a 30-branch system, while offering the opportunity to provide a wide range of services and support.
 
A member of numerous professional development organizations, Amber is particularly active in the Missouri Library Association, where she is serving a two-year appointment on the Publications Committee, as well as being the point-person for advertisement submissions for the MOINFO newsletter, an electronic newsletter published every two months for members.

Amber is also involved in the American Library Association's Committee on Library Advocacy (COLA), in which she has begun her two-year appointment as an intern and serves as liaison between International Relations Round Table (IRRT) and New Members Round Table (NMRT). In addition she was selected to join ALA's 2011 Emerging Leaders Program, sponsored by IRRT.  

She will be attending ALA's Annual Conference June 23-28, 2011, during which she will present a poster session with her Emerging Leaders group and participate in a panel discussion with Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA).
